ARTS FOR HEALING July 1, 2009 - August 1, 2009

Arts For Healing at the Community Gallery @BDG was a deeply personal show for both artist and viewer. This show began with a vision of sharing the power of the creative process: in healing, in transformation, in personal growth and in personal awareness with the community. Each artist's process was expressed visually and in word. Images were accompanied by the artist's statement of intent or experience in creating the artwork. This allowed the viewer to step into the experience with their own personal reaction in addition to awareness of the artists' process, allowing a deeper connection to the art, the artist, and oneself. Arts for Healing speaks to the human condition, to loss, change, illness, suffering, recovery, political and world concerns. It also illustrates an introspective, self-exploratory approach to art-making, using the creative process as a means of healing oneself or others.

Co-Curators of the exhibition: Celeste Walls, ATR-BC, LCAT, and Caren Sacks, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT.
